02. cameras dont know size
If the bodyproportions of a model are good, the camera can´t see if the model is tall or short. Sometimes people on pictures look a little wider then they are, cause on pictures there is no 3rd dimension. Height and weight can be displayed, depth not.
03. different setups
There are different kind of shootings with different intentions. A photoshooting can be in a studio with flashlights but also in a location or somewhere outside with natural light or also flashlight. Sunlight brings a warmer color to the picture - flashlight makes a picture more glamours.
04. dont bring a friend if he disturbs you
To go to a shooting in a friend´s company should never be a problem. But a problem is, when the company is disturbing the model. To pose in front of the boyfriend or girlfriend might be a little strange, exspecially for unexperienced models.
05. relax
A photoshooting is nothing bad, it´s just an unusual situation for unexperienced people. But the set and the involved people need to take care of a relaxed mood, cause stress and insecurity can be seen on the pictures.
06. posture
the posture on a picture is always depending on what the picture should transport. But here are some basic tipps: a chin should never be too low, it makes a short neck - for fashion pictures women should wear high shoes, strained legmuscles make a good shape - women´s arms should never be pulled hard against the body, that makes them wider, man´s arm can do that – the posture should always be a bit unsymetric, only straight and symetric if especially wanted.
07. emotions
If the pictures should transport different emotions, it helps a lot to think about situations from the real life in the past to get in the mood.
08. the lense
One of the most important things is the eyecontact with the lense. The lense should be focused in an active and flirting way. If this is happening the viewer of the picture gets the feeling of being looked at.
09. funny moves and strange positions
The photographer can see through his camera what the picture and the display details look like. If a model feels like being in a strange pose or funny position its possible that it looks great on the picture. Unusual display details and funky moves can make the difference between an interesting and an average picture.
10. models are giving the limit
At a photoshoot playing around with nudity, the model should give the limit of how much skin is to be shown. The model needs to feel comfortable without going too far under pressure. Insecurity and shame can be seen on the pictures.
11. sometimes less is more
Nudity doesnt make a picture better. It could give a certain feel and mood to a picture. But sometimes it is even more exciting if bodyparts are just hinted and not seen fully naked.
12. copyrights
The model should always take care of the copyrights of the pictures. Who owns the pictures and what is allowed to do with those pictures. Even an unpaid testshooting should be regulated by a small contract with the basic rules.
